Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz asserted on Thursday that the May 9 attack was a deeply distressing event meticulously planned over a span of four months, striking at the very core of the nation's spirit.

She made these remarks during a special ceremony held at Jinnah House Lahore to honour the families of the martyrs, where she also joined in lighting candles in remembrance of the fallen.

In her address to the gathering, Maryam Nawaz lamented that May 9 marked a somber milestone in history, as the nation faced a ruthless assault. She emphasized that those responsible for orchestrating such an attack must face the consequences for their actions.

Referring to the Jinnah House, named after the revered founder of Pakistan, she condemned the calculated assault by a terrorist group, expressing disbelief that such a tragedy could occur within a nation cherished by its citizens.

Maryam Nawaz underscored that the May 9 attack was not only an assault on physical structures but also on the collective spirit of the Pakistani people. She highlighted the glaring lapse in justice, questioning why the perpetrators had not been held accountable.

Punjab CM stressed the importance of ensuring that those who targeted memorials of martyrs and critical installations face legal repercussions, advocating for the incarceration of individuals involved in such reprehensible acts.

Maryam expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Army for their efforts in commemorating Muhammad Ali Jinnah and honouring the sacrifices of the martyrs.

She invoked blessings for the families of the martyrs, praying for their endurance and solace in the face of adversity.

Maryam reiterated her unwavering commitment to upholding the sanctity of Pakistan's institutions and honouring the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the nation.

She called upon the entire nation to stand united against terrorism and to continue the legacy of resilience and determination exemplified by the martyrs.
